Communication Studies core units

Core units will examine communication from a number of different perspectives, through the study of language, culture, visual communication, mass media and new media. You will also gain knowledge of applied communication, through the study of communications policy and industry practice. At the same time, you will learn to use digital technologies such as digital animation, video recording and editing equipment, image manipulation, and web-authoring software.

The core units are supplemented and contextualised through the study of media and culture in Asia, making this degree program uniquely applicable for students in Hong Kong.

Admission and advanced standing

Students who have successfully completed a recognised Associate Degree or Higher Diploma in media studies or a related field (with a G.P.A of 2.3 or higher) are eligible for admission and one year's Advanced Standing into the Degree. The University's normal English language requirements apply. With Advanced Standing the Degree will take two years to complete.

On Campus Transfer

As the BA(Communication Studies) offered in Hong Kong is the same degree as that offered at the Perth campus of The University of Western Australia, students may transfer at any time, with full credit for units already successfully completed in Hong Kong.
